bubbl.us connects thoughts and  ideas in an easy to view diagram. It is useful for visual learners and kinesthetic learners. The act of capturing and consolidating thoughts, then commiting them to the mindmap, I can see as being very effective as a learning tool. The colour coding of the child, parent and grandparent bubbles are useful as a timeline and prioritisation of information
